This wiki is designed to work alongside Twitter. Twitter is a great way to let people know what is going on in a short burst of information. Twitter only allows 140 characters so we have to be short and to the point, great for our young students!
This project is designed for preK-2 classes! That's 4-7 year old students for those outside of the US.
Here is how Students on Twitter will work...
Each classroom that participates will create its own Twitter account. My class will be @mrallen_first on Twitter.
Using the settings you need to check the "Protect my tweets" box. Only tweeters that are allowed will be able to follow you and see your classes tweets.
Under your bio you need to post the URL to your class website or a link to your school site. Post anything you would like others to know in your one line bio.
Come to this wiki and post your Twitter name on the "Tweet Me" page.
If your system blocks Twitter (like mine does) you can use programs like Seesmic to still tweet during school.
Begin tweeting!
What to tweet...
The weather in your area
What you are learning in class
Any special events happening at your school or community
Links to fun websites
Share your writing
Book conversations
Whatever else you want!
Please make sure all comments are appropriate. All classes that are participating will be in preK-2, so keep comments clean and positive! If you sign up, please participate and have fun with everyone.
If this sounds like something you would like to participate in please join. As this is new to everyone involved be patient if your one of the first to sign up!
